An Exceptional Black Horse in Grand Prix Dressage

“In recent years, the P.R.E. (Pura Raza Española) horse has made significant strides. Since 2018, there has been considerable debate regarding the prioritization of P.R.E. and C.D.E. (Spanish Sport Horse) horses for the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses. However, horses such as Poeta de Susaeta, Romero de Trujillo, and Mejorano HGF have proven that young Spanish horses can achieve great success and compete at the highest level against Central European breeds.

Poeta de Susaeta, a household name on the P.R.E. dressage circuit, hails from an illustrious Spanish bloodline (ERMITAÑO III). He began his competitive career in 2016, securing numerous victories and becoming the ANCCE Cup Champion as a four-year-old. His success continued as he represented Spain at the World Breeding Dressage Championships in Ermelo, where he won a silver medal in the five-year-old category, outperforming several prestigious international breeds. In 2018, at age six, he continued his winning streak in international competition.

From 2018 to 2020, Poeta trained for the Prix St. Georges level, making his debut in September and securing second place at SICAB. In 2021, he maintained international scores above 71%, winning his first national title at the Critérium level and achieving two fifth-place finishes at the prestigious CHIO Aachen.

Pura Raza Española at Grand Prix and Proven Sire

In 2023, Poeta began competing at the Grand Prix level, consistently posting scores in the 70s. At 11 years old, his legacy already includes 308 registered offspring, with his sons and daughters now competing across various levels.

Other notable horses include Rondo de Indalo and Domingo de Centurión. Rondo, known for his elasticity and powerful hindquarters, dominated the four-year-old tests and won the Young Horse Cycle final. Domingo, possessing impressive movement and conformation, debuted with high scores and showed significant improvement throughout the season. Both horses have inherited excellent traits from their sire and are expected to excel in future competitions.”
